MARATHON MAN DAVE BEST IN 3 MILER THE 20TH annual Jim Wall race attracted an excellent field tonight. This handicapped event provides an ideal opportunity for runners who normally don't feature in the prizes to have their night in the sun. Victory tonight went to one of the club's most prolific racers Dave Brady. Last Sunday Dave completed his 99th marathon in Longford but he was back in action and finish across the line in the three miler. Second was Mary Purdue Smyth while one of the club's newest recruits, Kerry native Frank Mannion was third. But the performance of the night was delivered by Dara O'Kearney, who claimed 4th spot just a few weeks after his exploits in the World Championship 24 hour race in Canada - where he finished in the top 35 and was the first Irishman across the line. Full Results: 1. Dave Brady; 2. Mary Purdue Smith; 3. Frank Mannion 4. Dara O'Kearney; 5. Shay Byrne; 6. Sean McGoldrick, 7. Eddie Fitzsimons; 8. Anne Marie Hickey; 9. Paul Carolan, 10. Nuala Reilly. I O 35 Dave Leech; 1st O 40 Martin Kelly; 1st O 45 Tom McSweeney; 1st O 50 Ray McCormack; 1st O 55 Conor Looney. Thanks to all the officials and race handicapper Pat Hooper. |
