GOLD & SILVER FOR MICK HYNES
MICK Hynes of St.Fintan's, Sutton was the sprint star at the Kit Kat All Ireland T & F finals in Tullamore today taking gold in the 200m metres and silver in the 100 metres in the senior boys category. In the latter race Chris Russell set a new personal best to take first place in 10.81, with Mick two hundreds of a second behind. But Mick avenged that defeat in the 200m winning comfortable in 21.94 with Russell in second place in 22.07. The club's middle distance runners had an equally impressive day in Tullamore. In the senior boys 5,000,m Colm Rooney (Plunket College) justified his favourites tag winning in 15.08.63 beating his training partner Conor Dooney (CBS Monkstown) by nearly three seconds. In the steeplechase Etienne Corish (St Paul's) took the silver medal in 6.20.09 while Kevin Pierce (St Fintan's) was 3rd (4.46.77) in the boys U-16 mile.
