RORY MOONEY WINS 2 MILE RACE RORY Mooney wound up his competitive preparations for the Dublin City Marathon when he comfortably won the second round of the Fit4Life league last night in an excellent time of 10:41 for the two miles. Last week's outright winner Anne Marie Gargan was second last night and first woman home in 13:34. A feature of the race was all the athletes who competed last week improved their times this time around. The third round takes place next Wednesday at 8pm. The full results were: 1 Rory Mooney 10:41; 2 Anne Marie Gargan 13:34; 3 Aileen Hooper 14:02; 4 Dave Brady 14:43; 5 Sinead Lyons 15:21; 6 Zara Rogers 15:58; 7 Lauren Healy 16:35; 8 Mary O'Connor 16:40; 9 Sinead Dillon 17:11; 10 Ciaran McGrath 17:34; 11. Clara Heaney 18:53; 12 Monica Lucas 18:54; 13 Anne Marie Murray 19:06 & 14 Jennifer O'Brien 19:28. Meanwhile the ALSAA Winter Track series got under way on Tuesday night with a one mile race. The first Raheny finisher was Paul Conroy in 5:39. Other club finishers included Brian Quigley 6.0; Bernie Manley 6:24; Eddie Collins 6:34 & Dave Brady 7:04. In the US at the weekend Brian Christenson, who competes in the Dublin marathon on Monday as one of the 4:30 pacers ran a PB of 89 minutes for a half marathon near Boston. |
