KEY BATTLES IN ALL DIVISIONS

EVER wondered how fast you could run the classic mile distance! Well if you're curious the place to be is Raheny on Wednesday night (March 10) for the seventh round of the club's Winter League - a one mile race at 8pm.

Even if you haven't participated in previous rounds of the league this is an ideal opportunity to blow all the winter cobwebs away. Registration in the clubhouse from 7.15. Light refreshments and prize giving in the clubhouse following the race. Entry fee is €5.

Meanwhile, in the Winter League there are fascinating battles in all four divisions. Mick Traynor has wrapped up yet another Division 1 title with Davy Byrne assured of a second place, but Will Walsh and Peter Mooney are still battling it out for third spot.

In Division 2 there is a fascinating battle for the title between long time leader Martin Kelly and the rapidly improving Brian O'Murchu, who has had the distinction of running a personal best in every race he has competed in since joining the club at the start of the year.

An injury to David Grange has thrown Division 3 wide wide open again with Paul Conroy, John Frier, Brian Quigley, Luke Walsh and Sean McGoldrick all in contention for podium finishes.

Des Lyons looks an odds on certainy to win Division 4 but there is a great battle between Bernie Manley and newcomer Joe Brady for the runner-up spot.

Please note the final round of the Winter League - another 1 mile race will now be held on Wednesday, April 7th with the Holland Cup taking place on Wednesday, March 31st.
