DAIRE Bermingham who set a new club mile record on Saturday when qualifying for the final of the IC4A's Indoor championships in the US couldn't quite match that blistering pace in the yesterday'sdecider in Boston University. He finished 10th in a time of 4:16.17.

Meanwhile, in his third marathon on Spanish soil in the last month Dave Brady clocked a time of 3:57.40 in the Barcelona marathon - incidentally this is his fourth marathon in a month. As well as running in the Seville and Valencia marathons he also ran a marathon in Galway on the weekend before last.

Catherine O'Dowd, a regular competitor with the club during the 1980s also competed in the Barcelona marathon yesterday finishing with an excellent time of 3:44.30
