DAVE Rooney won an indoor mile race at McNeese University last night in a time of 4:07.90. While the time is outside the university record it is a new Raheny club record dipping under Kevin Moriarty's existing record which stood at 4:08.13.

Dave, a student at McNeese enjoyed a great cross country season  before Christmas and he looks to have retained that form for the collegiate indoor campaign.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the US at the Giegenback meeting Conor Dooney was 8th in a mile race in 4:12. 36 one place ahead of Daire Bermingham (4:12.82).

At the AA1 National Indoor championships in Belfast Richie Corcoran finished 5th in the 3,000m in 8:25.58 Siobhan Eviston  qualified for today's 800m final after finishing third in her heat in 2:15.87.
