SUCCESS FOR RAHENY ATHLETES IN ALL-IRELAND INDOOR CH'SHIPS Raheny athletes secured four medals at last weekend's Woodie DIY AAI Juvenile Indoor championship of Ireland which took place in Nenagh. Becky Wall won silver in the U-15 girls shot put with a PB of 11.24m. Peter O'Brien was third in the U-15 Boy's High Jump with a clearance of 1.58m. Indeed, he only missed out on the silver medal as a result of a countback. He also finished seventh in the 60m hurdles with his best time of 9.87 seconds coming in the semi-final. He was in the medal position until he took a tumble at the last hurdle In the girl's U-15 60m Kiera Lynch took bronze in 8.03secs and she was fourth in the long jump in 4.95m. In the girl's U-16 60m Aisling Drumgoole took bronze in 8.11 secs. In the U-18 girls 60m Marie Ward clocked a time of 8.70secs while Brion Hoban was 4th in the U-15 boys shot put with a PB of 11.65m Given the competitive nature of the championship to return home with a haul of three medals was a great achievements for the club. Well done to the athletes, families and their coaches. The remaining competitions in the indoor season take place in Magherafelt next Saturday, April 4th while the relays will be contested on Sunday. |
